I have so much on my mind I can barely sit still.
I've started exactly 13 blog posts in the last two weeks ... and I've only finished and posted 2. The rest are in progress. I'm reading other blogs but I'm having a hard time commenting ... I always try to have something to say other than "Great post" or "Well done" ... I try not to comment if I only have something stupid to say ... I bet that surprises some of you who have seen my stupid comments on your blog :P
I took this picture of my son reading his new favorite book ... and I have been writing a post about this author and all his books ... he's fantastic you can see his stuff here Chris Van Dusen . I'm still trying to get it done. Hopefully, this week.
(NOTE to everyone asking ... I'm going to post a moving update tomorrow ... thanks for all your kind words and inquiries)
I've been stymied by a couple of emails I've received from people who read my blog but never comment.
The first one accused me of copying her content ... Well, in answer to that, I have never read her blog and I've never even seen her comment on another blog that I do read. (I like to read every one's comments on their blogs). So, I'm not sure how she thinks that. When I emailed her back to ask about specifics and to let her know that I didn't know who she was ... she became really nasty. I've had to block her from my email and from the blog (both of those tasks took me several days to figure out).
Anyway, the other was nasty also ... apparently, someone noticed that I had changed the wording on one of my previous posts. Who knew anyone was even paying that much attention to my blog?
I guess I've broken some unwritten rule that says "You are never to correct any mistakes in previous posts".
Last week, two of my favorite bloggers Helene (Congrats on your 1000 followers ... it is well deserved) and Deb posted some blog tips. I've been reading a lot about how to make my blog better and more importantly how to be a good blogger friend and observe some etiquette rules.
But, I haven't come across anything that says I shouldn't go back to an old post and fix wording or spelling mistakes. I have often gone back and changed the wording on something that wasn't written clearly (I'm trying to improve my writing skills) and I have absolutely gone back and inserted a word I left out and I've corrected bad spelling.
Have I broken another blogging rule?
I'm really trying to be good at this ...
Do you correct mistakes in past posts?

P.S. So ... I just discovered that everytime I post a test to see how it looks and then go back and delete it ... it shows up like a new post I have made and even if I delete it ... it is still there on peoples reading lists. Would someone PLEASE tell me when I'm doing something stupid!!! I swear I'm such an idiot sometimes ....

I'm the last one to ask about computer techno mumbo jumbo. I had to hire someone to design my page and my niece had to start my blog for me so I'm no help there. And yes, I have corrected past posts, anyone who doesn't approve of that shouldn't read them.
As far as the nasty emails you're receiving, I'm just shocked. Imagine the nerve of accusing you of stealing content! That has never happened to me but well, I guess the stuff I post is so far out, no one would believe it Lol!
In one way, it's a back handed compliment, she must like your material if she would post it herself Lol. Sorry to hear you're having such a terrible time of it. There are bullies everywhere including here but don't give up. 99.9% of us are really nice.
And thank you for saying such nice things about me and for the shout out today.
Hope you are having a great day and feeling better about blogging.
Hugs,
Deb
I have definitely gone back and corrected spelling and/or grammar mistakes, and I've also rewritten parts that I later felt were unclear. I never thought there was anything wrong with this, so if you find out otherwise, please let me know.
I have seen on a couple of blogs that I read where the authors have added a section and made not of it. Sometimes it's written in a different color and often includes the date and time the additional text was posted. But I'm not sure if that's good blogger etiquette or just part of their style.
Anyway, sorry people have been giving you a hard time. I really, really enjoy reading your blog, so I hope no one will keep you from continuing to write new posts.
Oops! I meant made "note" of it. Always proofread, right? :)
I correct my posts ALL the time! Duh, it's called proofreading... I can't believe someone even complained about something so trivial. Besides, isn't it poor etiquette to criticize others in an untactful manner?
And, since the one who said you stole her content is blocked, I can say this... she may be schizophrenic. Not trying to be funny, but my mom's friend is a paranoid schizo and she's accused us of stealing anything under the sun from her (she thinks my mom stole her ovaries. How that's possible, I don't know, but she's unmedicated, obviously hahaha). And that Steven Spielberg has stolen her movie ideas. I could go on, but you get the idea haha... so the lady might have been mentally ill.
I'm LOVING all the blog changes! It looks great!
As for the issue with your deleted posts still showing up... I have no clue how to correct that. Sorry. But it's definitely showing up, because I can see your test signatures :)
But now I have a few questions... how did you get your picture to show up in your following icon? Like, I'm following you, but my picture is just a shadow and I'd rather it be ME! Also, did you figure out the google reader tip Helene suggested? I'm still struggling with that one haha...
ok figured out google reader (I googled it HA! Imagine that ;) ) but I still can't figure out the picture icon, so if it's easy to explain and you don't mind, I'd appreciate it!!!
I googled how to delete the posts from reader... basically, from what I read, you can't. That seems odd to me though...
Are you freakin kidding me? Someone had the gall to tell YOU that YOU can't edit YOUR own posts??? This is YOUR blog...you can do whatever the heck you want. There is no etiquette for that! I've done it from time to time, especially if I go back and see a typo.
On the accusation of plaguarism (or however that's spelled), she sounds like she's just out to cause drama. If she honestly believed that, she should've been able to give you an example of exactly what she was referring to. The fact that she got even more nasty after you mentioned you had no clue who she was just proves that she's one of those people who thrives off of stirring the pot, know what I mean?
You have a fabulous blog and, if anything, she was probably wishing she had come up with the stuff you come up with. You're funny, honest, whitty and you express your thoughts well...who wouldn't be jealous of that?
On the Google reader, how to delete posts, I have no idea why it's not working. Although I've never tried to delete a post before. Maybe do a google search on the topic and you may figure out what's going on. When all else fails, I always do a google search and chances are there's someone else out there who has dealt with the same issue and may have an answer!!
Thanks for the shout-out! Your blog looks wonderful...love the flowers in the sidebar!
I make corrections, expansions, clarifications ALL THE TIME. I just made one today to a post that was three years old. I noticed an extraneous word.
I have a Type A personality.
I also schedule posts so as not drown my readers with my three- and four-post-a-day spurts.
I don't think there is such a rule.
